Ben View is a family business run by Paul and Lisa Prichard. Located on North Uist in the breathtaking Outer Hebrides. Ben View offers a warm welcome to visitors and tourists alike for an unforgettable experience on this extraordinary island. Situated on the shore of the beautiful Loch Sandary.
Ben View B&B is a mile or so from the local village of Paible which contains Bayhead Stores, one of the few shops and fuel points on the island. The house is a short walk from some of North Uist’s endless pristine beaches and sits at the point where the Machair meets the moorland, meaning we’re surrounded by a huge range of wildlife.
In terms of food, we’re a short drive away from the award winning Westford Inn pub and the nearby Claddach Kirkibost Centre Cafe. North Uist Distillary’s Downpour Gin is made a snipe’s flight away in Paible and beyond that you can find the Hebridean Smokehouse on the outskirts of Clachan.
Other attractions close by include the nature reserve at Balranald (accompanied by yet more incredible pristine and usually deserted beaches), the world heritage coastal landscape of Scolpaig, and some of the best trout fishing you can find anywhere in Scotland.
Local wildlife includes red deer (which you might see wandering past the house depending on the time of day), otters, migrating sea birds, hen harriers and sea eagles.
We’re open all year round; there’s always something new dropping by, including the local varieties of sheep and cattle.
Transport: we're 20 minutes by car from the main ferry terminal for North Uist, which is in Lochmaddy. The ferry terminal for crossings to Harris is 30 minutes drive to the north, while the terminal in Lochboisdale is about 1 hour's drive from the house. Benbecula Airport is 30 minutes away.
